Blackcomb is a founding practitioner of the Long Line Rescue System. Pilots have extensive Class D experience and are active in developing equipment and rescue techniques used by others in the field. Pilots also receive annual training and are ARA certified as Human External Transport System (HETS) pilots. Blackcomb performs all HETS rescues from Squamish to Mount Waddington and, since 1990, conducts training/rescue missions with multiple SAR teams. Blackcomb averages 25 rescue missions per year with 10 HETS rescues.
